Occasionally a friend of DC without a web site will release a program and ask us to host it. We've create the Miscelaneous Member Software Archive for this purpose.
There you will find some programs by DC member seedling, including: Random MixTape Maker, which takes a large collection of your mp3 files and creates playlists with a specified target duration; WTF Music Info, which will scan your music directories and give you a nice, graphical view of your music library.
- Number of programs available: 3
- Last updated: 2008
- Visit the miscelaneous DC member archive page to browse apps and download them here: http://www.dcmembers.com/archive.

Mouse wheel enhancement for WindowsI ran across this little gem at Lifehacker http://www.lifehacker.com/ today. It allows your mouse to scroll in *any* window or pane your mouse is in. Not being able to do that has been an annoyance of mine for a long time. I'm happy to report it works great, and the tray icon is cute (not a requirement but fun anyway). http://www.code-scout.net/katmouse/ donationware from the site: "The prime purpose of the KatMouse utility is to enhance the functionality of mice with a scroll wheel, offering 'universal' scrolling: moving the mouse wheel will scroll the window directly beneath the mouse cursor (not the one with the keyboard focus, which is default on Windows OSes). This is a major increase in the usefullness of the mouse wheel. Another feature involves the wheel button. Since the wheel button is not consistently used in Windows, KatMouse can use it for a kind of task switching: with a click of the wheel button you can push a window to the buttom of the stack of windows that is your desktop, making a recovered window the active window." |

DE Coffee ManagerThe most fun we had in our office since friday (when we installed the new coffee machine): The Coffee Manager. There's an administrator who makes a coffee group, the DECM manages who's turn it is to make coffee. You can then select what drink you want and all orders will be delivered to the right person. You can even print out statistics. Are you always the one who's stuck getting coffee for your colleagues? How does Keith in accounts take his coffee again? You're going to get a coffee, but is there anyone else who wants one too? The Coffee Manager is the answer! |

Microsoft's SilverlightSilverlight has been mentioned as Microsoft's potential Flash killer. Techchrunch has an EXCELLENT write-up about this new technology, and you can read it here: http://feeds.feedbur...crunch/~3/113229315/ Official Silverlight website: http://silverlight.net/ |

Hackety Hack — the Coder's Starter KitCoders of the world, be fruitful and multiply yourselves! At least that's one idea behind a clever new effort called, Hackety Hack, which holds — among other things — that coding has gotten too damn expensive lately with too little return. So, "let's take things into our own hands and bring hacking to the young folks." Even comes with a cheatsheet. Hackety Hack was not written in seclusion for my imaginary friends. It was written with the help of fifty budding hackers who I personally mentored. Most had tried to program, but had failed to catch on. Some wanted to teach their kids. |
