Process Tamer: 5 Stars
This program [Process Tamer] may be extremely valuable to you if you work with processing-intesive applications that often make your system unstable. For myself, I have found that process tamer works really well in preventing some of my MS Excel macros that routinely crash my machine form doing so.

ShowMeDo - Video Tutorials

ShowMeDo.png
This site is dedicated to showing demonstrative videos produced by our community. For many subjects seeing something done is the most effective way to learn, whether it's peering over an expert's shoulder while they explain how to program or watching while someone grinds beans and makes coffee. Please watch, learn and perhaps share your knowledge back.

It is a community site where community members can request howto/tutorial videos and other community members make them and put them up on ShowMeDo. They have areas for Python, Java, Linux, Ruby, Blender, and Screencasting. There is also an "Others" section.

Community members can vote on a video's worth and they have a forum for discussion. They also have a blog and a wiki.

Nice Blog Piece on Google Taking Advantage of its own Ad System

Screenshot - 12_9_2006 , 7_38_52 AM_thumb.png
Insightfull short blog post on why google's answer about how they use their own ad system to place ads is misleading..

...
Garcia's conclusion: "Google cheats." He says, "What this tells me is if you are trying to advertise a product that is competitive to Google, then you'll never be able to receive the Top Ad Position, no matter how much money you bid and spend."
...
But Garcia's charge, and the subsequent discussion of it in the blogosphere, got under Google's skin, and, yesterday, the company responded.. "Our ads are created and managed under the exact same guidelines, principles, practices and algorithms as the ads of any other advertiser. "
...
I'm sure that's all true, but it's also disingenuous. Even though Garcia overstated his case, he's right to be concerned. There's something fishy here. Whether Google bids "fairly" or "unfairly" in these auctions, the fact is that it's playing with the house's money. Whether it bids a buck or a hundred bucks on a keyword doesn't make much difference to it, because the cash is just going from its back pocket to its front pocket. And if the auctioneer can bid as much as he wants without actually incurring any cost, that has to distort the prices being paid by all the other bidders, who are paying real money.

Word Snap: Flash Game of the Day

Screenshot - 12_8_2006 , 11_07_25 AM_thumb.png
Kind of like a puzzle, but create words rather than placing based on shape.

Word Snap is a word puzzle game that is very easy to play. Use the mouse to combine the bricks on the board so that they form complete words. When you find two matching bricks, click and drag one of them to the other, and the two will snap together!

To give you a hint on where to start, you can look at the top of the screen to see what category the words belong to. To get a new puzzle, click on the "New Category" button at the bottom of the screen!

What present should we get Cody for xmas?

codywriting128.png
We need to get our mascot Cody a present for xmas.  He's not religious but he does believe in santa clause so we really have no choice but to get him something.  Price is no object since he is imaginary.

What do you suggest we get for him?

The best suggestion by xmas eve will get a Cody Mug (if you already have a mug you are inelligible).

Anonymous Google searches with G-Zapper

GZapperScreenshot.PNG
Link : http://www.dummysoftware.com/gzapper.html

From the website:
Did you know that Google stores a unique identifier in a cookie on your PC, which allows them to track the keywords you search for? They use this information to compile reports, track user habits, and test features. In the future, it is possible they could even sell this information or share it with
others. ...

G-Zapper helps you protect your identity and valuable attention data. ...  G-Zapper allows you to delete or entirely block the Google search cookie from future installation.

Even though I like Google, I am not comfortable about the fact that it maintains tracking information for all searches, for an indefinite time. A few months ago, AOL users' search data was compromised. Even though Google might be more diligent about protecting their users' data, there is always a threat that it can be forced to share the data through a government subpoena.
