But Nothing Beats a Personal EmailRecieving a welcome email from a living, breathing human is quite refreshing in these days of automated, canned email responses.

Sebran's ABCSebran's ABC is a cute, small (~700kb) edutainment application for small children (4-9 years). It features a few minigames, some cute clipart graphics, and MIDI music (!). Make sure you give your children headphones.

Informal Local DC Get-togehter: Scandinavia / Denmark?I was wondering if any DC members in the Nordic region are interesting in a little heads-up? I can personally offer a 50m^2 apartment in Ã…rhus, Denmark - room for lots of people in sleeping bags, and I can cook etc. I could probably also facilitate something in "the general area of Copenhagen" (although it'd be a bit outside, and other people might be better hosts), which would be more interesting for people from, say, .se and .no. Any interest?

USBDeview - Guaranteed eject of your USB driveUSBDeview is a tiny program from the fine coders at Nirsoft that displays all the devices that are currently connected on your USB ports. What I like about it is the flawless eject operation. No more seeing this window : [attachthumb=#1][/attachthumb] Here is the main window of the program which can be run in the background while showing the USB icon in the tray. Pressing F9 disconnects the USB device every time I've tried. [attachthumb=#2][/attachthumb] http://www.nirsoft.n...sb_devices_view.html I wonder if its possible to write a FARR plugin that can automatically call up USBDeview in the background to eject a USB drive. For example, I bring up FARR and type "eject <USB Device>" to automatically disconnect the device. In fact, I don't mind even if USBdeview is not involved as long as I can eject the device without seeing thr first window above. |

MiniReview of Linkman URL Organizer and Search ToolLinkman - a Bookmark Management Program from Outer Technologies:
Linkman is a standalone or browser independent bookmark organizer and search tool. You enter bookmarks into it and organize them in any way you want. You create folders to organize them in, much like you would create folders in which to organize your files. You can import bookmarks from all the popular browsers and some bookmark organizers. Linkman really begins to shine though once the bookmarks are entered. First off, Linkman will validate the bookmarks, similar to Martin Aignesberger's AM-Deadlink utility. In addition to making sure the links still work, Linkman will download the description and keywords from the website. This makes it easier to find the link when you are searching if you can't remember the bookmark name. All bookmarks have a name, path (url), keywords and description (both from website), comment (notes you enter about this bookmark), and six user defined fields, giving you more than enough ways to catalog, organize, and describe your bookmarks. Once your links are set up, you type what you are looking for: either the bookmark name or information in any of the other bookmark fields that you specify. All bookmarks are initially listed, but unrelated ones disappear as you type, leaving only the one(s) that meet your criteria. You then tell Linkman to launch the bookmark(s) and it will open whatever browser you specify and load the bookmark(s). |

Creative Commons Music Sites (like Jamendo) - List Your Favorites - And Donate to Musicians You LikeJamendo
http://www.jamendo.com Description Jamendo is a place for artists from around the world to post their work under the Creative Commons license. Users can download artists' songs from Jamendo a variety of ways including http and eMule and BitTorrent or can listen to them using the webplayer. Artists Benifits - Supporting musicians with donations(!) amendo also allows users to donate to artists that have chosen to receive donations. (Minimum amount to donate is $5) Artists can choose to either receive donations, in which case Jamendo will keep a small portion of the donation (website says as little as 50 cents) or they can choose to receive a portion of the revenue from Jamendo's ads. Review Selection is fairly decent, a lot of songs from non English speaking countries as well. Web Interface is very nice uses AJAX and has a nice Web 2.0 feel to it. Artists also get some income from this via donations or shared ad revenue |
