The Silent MajorityEven though I have not contributed anything to the discussions I follow the site every day. I find the discussions interesting and informative. I think it's a nice community.

Launchy 2.0 is outSo a new major version of Launchy is out, with quite some changes, primarily focused on the future multiplatform compatibility on the app, but bringing some other welcome additions to the table as well. So, first things first, Launchy is now written using Trolltech's Qt toolkit, which as you may know, is the driving force behind KDE's desktop, and that means Launchy will be usable in Linux and Mac OS X in the future, which is a good thing for creating some competition in the other OS. But what matters to users is features, and there are quite some to be found here. Launchy is prettier than before, it sports a redesigned options interface, and it allows more customization regarding the list and what you can do with the items showed there. http://www.launchy.net/

Good Free Wallpaper Managers?Does anyone know of a good freeware wallpaper manager? Currently I have to open Windows Explorer, go to the folder where I keep my wallpapers, find the one I want, then right-clicking on it to select "set as desktop background". I use xplorer2 as my file manager, and it doesn't have that capability. I don't really need or want my wallpaper to change ever so often, I just want a good, simple app to manage and set my wallpapers.
Thanks in advance. You folks rock! |

Javascript GamelibIt would be fun if someone made a game with this for the NANY 2008 challenge. Scott Porter made a popular library for creating Javascript Games, called the Javascript Gamelib. It provided relatively simple routines for animation, sprites, collision detection and control. It meant games programmers could concentrate on designing games for websites instead of spending time rewriting the basic building blocks. http://www.sean.co.u...ascript_gamelib.shtm |

Find secret Amazon discounts with DeallockerSearch for and locate incredible Amazon discounts with DealLocker's secret Amazon Discount service. It even has a UK section, too, since I've found items there not on the US site, along with sections for Germany, France, and Canada. http://deallocker.co...ret-amazon-discount/ Input an optional keyword and then choose the range of desired discount — anywhere from 10% off to 99% off. Unlike previously mentioned JungleCrazy, the secret finder gives much more comprehensive results and allows you to browse through Amazon directly after you perform your search. Still, if you're looking for some amazing deals through Amazon, both sites complement each other nicely. |

Fantastic: XsX Alphablended CursorsAnyone seen these before?
I discovered it on LifeHacker and followed the lead to Aaron's Blog which has a nifty install utility... Anyway, that was yesterday, and today I'm still impressed with these cursors: they are easier on the eyes! The semi-transparent and brightly coloured cursors meld into the background and jump to the front of the monitor - at the same time: it's fantastic. |

Houseforge recommendation December 2007: Encryption SoftwareAbout houseforge:
In this series I recommend tools that meet certain criteria: they have to be free of charge, useful or fun, and they have to work at least on both linux and windows. Oh well we are halfway into the month of December already and I couldn't decide on something specific yet. So let's weaken our criteria a little an decide to recommend not a specific tool but a specific kind of tool: tools that can help to protect your privacy. However, this will not be a full-fledged privacy protection thing, I will suggest a few things to get started, and to make you think about protecting your privacy. Here goes... The houseforge recommendation for December 2007! Do everything you can to protect your privacy, starting with your electronic communications! Encrypt your email, encrypt your instant messages and IRC chats. It is possible with the help of:
