Ghacks.net is a technology blog that started in 2005, around the same time that DonationCoder got started. Although it covers a diverse set of technology topics, it has been one of the reliably excellent blogs for discovering and keeping up to date on Microsoft Windows applications.
Martin, who runs ghacks, has always taken a keen interest in the events and software we make here at DonationCoder, and we're proud to call ghacks a friend.

Frigits Deluxe: Fun and addictive marble madness for your fridge!Trying to think of a nice Christmas gift for a kid besides software, here's an idea for you! If you're old enough to remember the classic game of Mousetrap you'll undoubtedly recall its crazily addictive, cartoon-esque maze of chutes, funnels, tunnels and ramps with great affection. Watching a marble meander through a series of improbable obstacles was strangely mesmerizing. And it's just one of the reasons why we think Frigits Deluxe is going to be equally popular. This ingenious, fridge-based plaything has won every toy award going, and is as addictive as it is simple. http://www.firebox.c...dex.html?dir=firebox... |

Using GPUs to accelerate computationsAn interesting feature of the current, and future, generation of graphics processing units, GPU, is their ability to be programmed to process a massive amount of data in parallel...and the application using the GPU to accelerate data processing does not even have to be graphics related.
Recently NVidia released their latest generation of graphics cards, the 8800 series, using the G80 GPU, supporting "General purpose processing". What is especially cool with the latest gadget from NVidia is that they have developed a C compiler to make it easier for a programmer to use the GPU for general purpose processing.
