Word 2007 interactive tutorial for Word 2003 user

ws-off2007-1.png
from CyberNet News:
This morning I actually came across an interactive tutorial that Microsoft is offering for Word 2003 users that lets you hover over a command to see where you can find it in Office 2007 (as pictured below). If that isn’t enough for you then click on the command and it will actually demonstrate how you can find that command in Word 2007.

btw, this was Ryan's conclusion:
Once you start to get used to Microsoft Office 2007 it is hard to switch back to the previous versions that only have the toolbars. Everything works so smoothly and, despite the initial frustration, you can find things much faster. If you really give the new interface a fair shot, and still walk away not liking it I would be quite surprised.

Cool site!

Welcome to Word Spy! This Web site is devoted to lexpionage, the sleuthing of new words and phrases. These aren't "stunt words" or "sniglets," but new terms that have appeared multiple times in newspapers, magazines, books, Web sites, and other recorded sources.

Typeworkshop - Great page for all you typographically challanged out there!

typeworkshop.jpg
I just found this very nice page that explains all the basics about fonts and typography you (n)ever wanted to know.
Having had three years of design school myself I can say this is quite a nice page.
Make sure to check it out and you might find yourself appreciating well made fonts a bit more.

type basics
100% practical. Sketches have been made to explain some basic issues in type design during the workshops.
They get used to point out some problems which raise while creating a new typeface.
Only some foundations are shown, no deep sophisticated details.

Insane Super Mario Bros. Mod

You think you've got it hard in life? Picture yourself trying to figure this one out.

Mouser puts it best:
It's like a testament to human suffering and perseverance. It's heartbreaking and inspiring at the same time. It's soo damn cruel!
So cruel, yet so hilarious!

KeyPass v2 previews are out

main_big.png
KeyPass is one of the best password management tools you can find, and it just happens to be free and open source.
You can find a mini-review of it on the DC forum here: https://www.donation...dex.php?topic=4061.0

The author has just released some early downloads for version 2, which is a complete rewrite in .net.  It's stirred up a little controversy and you can read a new faq about version 2 on the site.

Is KeePass 1.x a dead end?
Why is KeePass 2.x being developed?
Will KeePass 1.x continue to be enhanced with new features?
Why has .NET been chosen as a framework for KeePass 2.x?
Security and Integration
Productivity
Portable and Cross-Platform
Will there be a KeePass 2.x version that won't require the .NET framework?
Should I switch to KeePass 2.x now?
Should I switch to KeePass 2.x when it becomes production level?
What are KeePass Classic and KeePass Professional?

Mapping the Mal Web: McAfee reports where the dangers of the www lurk

interactive_map.gif
A study called "Mapping the Mal Web" has been written by McAfee SiteAdvisor. It is based on analysis data from massive tests of website exploits, downloads, the "spamminess" of the sites et cetera ( I reckon they use automatic tests of some kind for this ).

http://www.siteadvis..._malweb_mar2007.html

It is an interesting read, but most of it was expected, e.g. the most risky sites are the ones in eastern Europe, Russia and China. What surprised me a bit was the result of the .info sites.

A stunning 73.2% of the more than 6,000 .info sites that we have tested for e-mail practices are rated risky, meaning that SiteAdvisor registrations at these sites resulted in the receipt of high volume e-mail, spammy e-mail or both.
