FinePrint vs. priPrinter

priprintershot01_big.jpg
patteo wrote a fantastic mini-review of FinePrint, but was wondering if anyone is using Pelikan Software's priPrinter and what their thoughts are?

Stephen King's "N." - 25 Short Videos

Screenshot - 10_2_2008 , 3_46_55 AM_thumb.png
These are quite cool.. mysterious and ominous story and a beautifully drawn and animated comic.  All online (ad supported) for viewing.

Master storyteller Stephen King presents a revolutionary new form of entertainment: his short story “N.” brought to vibrant life through a series of 25 graphic video episodes. The original series tells the story of a psychiatrist who falls victim to the same deadly obsession as his patient—an obsession that just might save the world!

Drawn by award-wining comic book artist Alex Maleev, and colored by famed comic book colorist José Villarrubia, the episodes were adapted by Marc Guggenheim, co-creator of the ABC-TV series “Eli Stone” with creative oversight from Stephen King.

Fan-Editing of Movies? Links and Opinions

blog clipart
I just did a search on DC about fan-edits, where normal people re-edit movies and produce new versions of the movies, but didn't find anything, so I was wondering what this board's opinions on it are.

UserNameCheck: A very cool way to see what sites your username is available on

usernamecheck3.jpg
From a blog entry on cnet/webware:
If you're one of those people who tries to grab his or her own preferred username on every new service that comes along, just in case the service becomes hot one day and you want to start using that cool ID, check out this new tool: Usernamecheck.

All it does is ask you for a user name, and then pings about 45 services so it can return to you "taken" or "available" for each one.

If a name is taken, it can't tell you if the owner of it is you or someone else (how would it know?), and there's as yet no way to add new sites for it to check--you have to wait for the developer to add them. Also, it's slow. And it doesn't appear to work on anything but Firefox.

But this is a useful tool for managing one's personal brand. And here's a tip for parents-to-be: Run your baby names through it, as well as through BustAName. Your kid might thank you.

Garden Inventor: Tower Defense Game of the Week

Screenshot - 9_23_2008 , 11_49_51 PM_thumb.png
Here's a very nice and nicely balanced tower defense game.  You must defend your garden from bugs.  Just a nice feel overall, with a series of different levels that you must complete in order to win the game.  Each level is a bit different.

I'd say the only real weakness of the game is that it plays a bit slow.  I'd love a "speed up" button.

I can haz LOLMouser plz?

The profound, sublime humor of the lolcats phenomena tells us something deep about both humour itself and about how we related to our pets.

Perhaps it's time for everyone to create their own modified form of lolcats for their own community?
