Screenshot Captor: One of the best
If you write blog posts or perhaps ebooks or articles based on technology, one of the first requirements of many is finding a decent screenshot program. One of the best, in my opinion, for Windows users has to be Screenshot Captor, as it allows editing of the screenshots taken, and possesses some large configuration options. And it's a free download.. If you're after a good free screenshot grabber, try Screenshot Captor.

Confessions of an Internet “Shock Jock”

Screenshot - 2_24_2010 , 9_13_54 AM_thumb.png
Interesting and cautionary tale about how trying to profit over controversy often comes back to haunt you.

You see, what Galen and I discovered was that the topics that were most effective in drawing readers were also those that skirted the edges of both legitimacy and taste. For example, if I wrote an entry detailing some deeply held belief about a particular IT vendor or technology, nobody paid any attention. However, if I simply vented about something that was bugging me – a mysterious crash in Vista or some piece of VDI “marchitecture” coming out of VMware – the attention level shot through the roof.  Eventually, I found myself enjoying the buzz that my “angry missives” would generate. Little did I realize how quickly such a model could deteriorate or how much it could damage me, personally, once it fell apart...

SendYourDarling.com - Send your stuffed animal on a travel trip

A site similar to toyvoyagers, com:

http://www.sendyourd...ng.com/toytraveling/

"Welcome to Toy Traveling - Travel Agency for Teddy bears and cuddly toys.
Is your darling exceptional? Give him extraordinary present - trip to Prague - the beautiful heart of Europe. Except amazing experiences, he will bring back home many great photos and other presents."

I love this kind of thing.. I think it's one of those kinds of things that is good for the soul, for everyone involved.

The programmer as (starving) artist

Screenshot - 2_21_2010 , 8_59_47 AM.png
Interesting web essay:

Discussions about code as poetry and how code and art differ from each other are not new, but the growing popularity of free software among both developers and users may make software developers more like artists than they have been in the past in one very important respect: A majority of programmers may end up writing code without getting paid directly for their work. Perhaps, before long, "starving programmer" will be as familiar a phrase as "starving artist" is today.

From MaximumPC

When you get right down to it, Dropbox is a pretty simple app. It syncs folders—that’s it. But what makes Dropbox amazing is the sheer number of different ways you can use that functionality, by itself or in conjunction with other programs, to improve your computing experience. We like Dropbox so much that we’ve written about it several  times  before, and we still haven’t gotten to every cool thing you can do with the program.

That’s why, in this article, we’re going to share with you a whopping 15 things that we think everyone should know about Dropbox, from how to get extra storage for free to how to use Dropbox to control your Bittorrent client.

Some good stuff there- and definitely some things I didn't know about.
