When a new program is installed that supports the updater tool, it may register itself automatically with the updater.

If it doesn't, you need to start the updater tool and add the programs directory or .dcupdate file to the updater, so that it knows how to check your program for updates. You can drag and drop files and folders onto the updater window in order to register them with it.
